About

A behavioral systems consultancy by Jonathan Pierce. Turning buyer psychology into behavioral systems that drive revenue.

// Overview

A behavioral systems consultancy for the human era.

Pierce/Co. is a consultancy that helps product and business leaders design the behavioral systems shaping how customers decide, act, and stay. We treat brand, product, organization, and strategy as one connected system — and work to close the gaps where intent isn't producing the outcomes the business needs.

The firm was founded by Jonathan Pierce, a behavioral systems architect with 16 years of experience designing products and systems for teams at Dropbox, Goldman Sachs, Nestlé Purina, Bass Pro Shops, Whirlpool, and Intuit.

// 01 Thesis

The human era is now.

Four shifts are reshaping how companies need to think about their customers — and most organizations are underestimating what those shifts mean together.

The constant is human.

Channels change, tools change, the speed of everything changes. But the underlying psychology doesn't. People still make decisions for themselves. They still have preferences. They still want to grow. As the surface layer keeps shifting, the companies that win will be the ones that go back to basics — that deeply understand what makes people tick, rather than chasing the next platform or tactic.

Customer wins and business wins now align.

Consumers have more options, more information, and less patience than ever. They're loyal to brands that align with their thinking and quick to leave the ones that don't. The companies that understand this stop trying to outspend or outmaneuver competitors — they win by understanding their customers deeply enough that solving for the customer is solving for the business.

Reactive loops aren't enough.

Most companies treat data as the source of behavioral insight. But data tells you what already happened. By the time a problem shows up clearly in the numbers, it's usually compounding. Understanding behavior lets teams find issues before they spike — to shift from reactive firefighting to proactive design.

AI is a multiplier, not a foundation.

AI accelerates execution within whatever architecture already exists. It doesn't surface the misalignment between pricing psychology and onboarding. It doesn't flag that a brand is setting expectations the product can't meet. If the behavioral foundation is sound, AI is a multiplier. If it isn't, AI scales the misalignment faster than ever.

// 02 What we do

See it, diagnose it, design to close the gap.

Pierce/Co. helps companies see their behavioral systems clearly, diagnose where intent isn't producing the outcomes they want, and design to close the gap.

Our work spans six services, organized around the layers where behavioral systems are built or break down — buyer psychology audits, growth strategy, perceived value design, product and experience design, behavior-focused workshops, and design systems. Every engagement is fixed-scope and fixed-price, delivered with senior-level thinking.

For most teams, the right starting point is the Behavioral Audit — a diagnostic engagement that surfaces which of the other services will produce the most leverage. From there, the work shapes around what the audit actually finds.

// 03 About Jonathan
Jonathan Pierce
Jonathan Pierce Founder · Behavioral Systems Architect

Sixteen years thinking in systems.

Jonathan Pierce is a behavioral systems architect with 16 years of experience designing products and systems across SaaS, financial services, retail, and consumer goods.

His career started at a small marketing firm, building end-to-end solutions for brands — strategy, design, copy, build, deployment, all of it. Coding was part of the work from the beginning, starting with Drupal and continuing as a constant through every design role since. Owning the full system, end to end, became the throughline. It taught him to think about brand, product, organization, and code as one connected architecture rather than separate disciplines handed off between specialists.

That holistic foundation shaped the rest of the career. As a Staff Product Designer at companies including Dropbox, Goldman Sachs, Nestlé Purina, and Bass Pro Shops — with earlier work at Whirlpool, Intuit, and consulting engagements across startups and Fortune 100s — he led design and behavioral strategy work for products and systems used by hundreds of millions of customers. The scale changed; the way of thinking didn't.

What he learned across those engagements is simple: people don't experience products as features or screens, they experience feelings that shape trust, confidence, and momentum. As AI accelerates how products are built and decisions are automated, those feelings matter more than ever — and the companies that design for them deliberately are the ones building durable advantage.

Jonathan founded Pierce/Co. to apply that perspective at the system level, working with leadership and design teams to understand how customers form beliefs and to translate that understanding into systems that guide behavior and support sustainable growth.

He lives and works in Ozark, Missouri, and engages with clients globally.

// 04 Why Pierce/Co. exists

Why Pierce/Co. exists.

The firm exists because four converging shifts — the constancy of human psychology, the alignment of customer and business wins, the limits of reactive optimization, and the arrival of AI as an execution multiplier — make this the right moment to build a practice around behavioral architecture.

Each of those shifts points toward the same need: organizations that can see their behavioral systems clearly, diagnose where intent isn't producing the outcomes they want, and design to close the gap. That's what Pierce/Co. is built to do.

The longer case for why is published as a separate piece.
